Second impressions…

Well they exist, but they don’t count! You only have one chance to make a first impression, which will become the benchmark people place you at in their minds. This initial benchmark is very difficult to change once it has been set. For more information on first impressions, Google the experts Al Ries & Jack Trout (Book – “Positioning: The battle for your mind”). If this theory applies to online marketing, which it does, then what time and effort are you putting into your campaign when people discover you for the first time?

With DNA, every cell carries the coding for all DNA. Your regular online messages to the entire world should be consistent with your goal, knowledge and ultimately your reputation in every message. In other words, your online DNA should consistently, repetitively and systematically carry your “business coding” in every message you post. There cannot be any weak links!

When people find your online site for the first time, you can’t suggest that they read some of the really good articles / blogs / posts that you wrote, and to ignore the rest of the content. Your reputation lies in every single article, which could be their first impression of you and your business (each article interaction becomes the “whole thing”).

Conclusion: Get out there and give it your best with everything that you do online, because your content represents your entire reputation and it’s there forever.

“Today is life; the only life you are sure of. Make the most of today. Shake yourself awake! Let the winds of enthusiasm sweep through you. Live today with gusto!” – Dale Carnegie.
